Easter Blessings

Easter turned out to be a wonderful, beautiful day. Although the weather was a bit nippy, the sun was shinning, the birds were chirping, and the aroma of the flowers were stronger than ever. So strong that I had to get the kids indoors because their allergies were starting to act up.

We had a nice drive out to Gabe’s grandma’s house, as it is the family tradition. I completely forgot the kid’s Easter bags, so they were happy to use their army hats when the hunting began. Patty and Rod, Gabe’s Aunt and Uncle usually hide the eggs while Calvin tries really hard to remember where they were last year, and claims he will find every single one of them. Even though she saw many eggs lying around, Trinity had a great time finding her one single egg. She was so content and so happy to have it that she held it tight to the point that her hot little hands turned green. 

 

We are so blessed to have such a giving family. Calvin and Ezekiel love the Bible videos their Great aunt  Judy blesses them with. The boys can’t wait to get home and watch them. They learn a lot about the most popular stories of the Bible through these animated classics. Even little Trinity gets excited when she hears the theme song.

I once again had the privilege listening to the wisdom of Gabe’s uncle Rod, as he spoke so passionately about his faith in God. He definitely has the gift of teaching. He relates the reality of the scriptures in a practical way for life’s situations. Gabe and I were talking about how kids look at most Christians and think they were born with a Bible in their hand. But when you hear the stories that Rod tells, it’s almost like watching a movie. It’s not something that he is proud of, but rather something that he shares for the sake reminding others that Jesus is in the business of transforming lives. Gabe told me that he had never heard of Rod getting jumped by some guys and getting hit in the mouth with a crowbar. My mouth dropped open and I was like, “No way man that’s crazy, I can’t picture that”. Well sometimes you have to share certain things that make people realize that GOD delivers sinners from the pit of hell.

 

Gabe and I had another evening talking about his crazy life before he came to know Jesus. Some of the stories he told me were unbelievable. We both laid our heads on our pillows in peace and thanksgiving for Gods grace to deliver us at an early age. We told each other that if our parents knew just half the stuff that we got away with that they would not want to claim us as their own. God has spared us so much pain and grief. We really didn’t give a hoot about anyone but ourselves, and it is something that didn’t come with kids or age. You only grow into sin as you get older you perfect it over a lifetime, unless you repent and get saved. If you simply grew out of it, there would be a load of adults out there doing things the right way, but of course that is not reality. It’s almost as if they never grew up at all. Only by the grace of God, Gabe and I are still married and trying to do things Gods way. May God have mercy on us all.
